It is very reassuring to have a primary care physician whom you can trust when experiencing worrisome symptoms or looking for medical advice. Having a physician in your corner who knows your medical history goes a long way to helping you make smart choices regarding your health. At Mercy Medical Clinic, both of our primary care physicians are accepting new patients. They would love to meet you and take you on as a client if you so desire!
Finding a primary care physician can be a bit overwhelming, especially when considering the number of primary care physicians available, the variety of specialties they have, and knowing with which physicians you will feel comfortable. The most important thing when you are looking to partner with a primary care physician is that you feel comfortable and able to trust your physician. Factors that might influence your level of comfort with a primary care physician might include the gender of the physician, their age, their specialty, or their background. Start by asking friends, family, and co-workers about their primary care physicians, who they would recommend, and the reason for their specific recommendation.
As for us at Mercy Medical Clinic, we highly recommend either of our physicians, both of whom are accepting new patients. Dr. Fauzia Khalida Osama, M.D. and Dr. Tanvir Ahmad, M.D. are both board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. If you would like to read up on their specialties and get a feel for who they are as people, visit our Meet Us page! Our physicians are very personable and are dedicated to providing the utmost compassionate and expert care to all of their patients.
If you don’t currently have a primary care physician and require urgent medical attention for an issue that is not life-threatening, don’t worry! That scenario is precisely the purpose for which walk-in clinics are designed. Luckily, we accept walk-in appointments here at Mercy Medical Clinic for any patients that do not have primary care physicians or are unable to see their primary care physician in a timely fashion. If you or your loved ones are experiencing a life-threatening medical emergency, you must go to the nearest emergency room. Neither walk-in clinics nor primary care clinics are designed to treat such situations.
This question is a good one! If you are unable to see your primary care physician promptly for a medical concern that is urgent but not immediately life-threatening, then urgent care is the best way to go. That said, if you can see your primary physician promptly, or can wait until they are available, it is best to do so. Your primary care physician will have an intimate familiarity with your medical history that an urgent care doctor will not have. As such, they will have more information available to them for how best to provide you with medical care. Fortunately, we offer both urgent care and primary care services at Mercy Medical Clinic! Thus, if you are a client of ours, you don’t have to venture to an unfamiliar urgent care clinic when you are unable to see your primary care physician. We can still serve you here at Mercy Medical Clinic in a friendly and familiar environment!
